Default Ever heard of a dwarf frontosa?

I was talking to the owner of a local shop and he brought up a rumer about some new dwarf frontosa recently discovered. I told him that the neolamp tretocephalus were sometimes called a dwarf frontosa or poor man's frontosa but he said this was something different. He said he overheard talk of them between a couple of his fish suppliers but they weren't familiar with them either but that they overheard someone else's conversation.
I can't find any info on them and was wondering if anybody has ever heard of these.
Sounds alot like it's just a rumer but i thought i'd ask anyway, you never know. lol

There's a Zambian gibberosa "Mbete blue" that some say is a dwarf, with males supposedly reaching only 8 inches. Not very common in the hobby and because of this I'd personally like to see more info about them-- such as someone keeping them a few years into adulthood-- to be convinced they are actually dwarfs or that 8 inches is really their max size. Not saying I challenge it, but would like to see more evidence to be convinced. A couple of different importers have brought them into the US before.

That may have been what they're talking about. The males of this mystery front are only supposed to get to 7-8in according to what these guys were saying.
I'd like to get some more info on them as well, very interesting but it still smells a little fishy to me. lol

Here is a picture of my 'dwarf' frontosa...Her name is Wilma and she is really cute! Other than the higher and shorter body, her coloration and barring are perfect!

She is actually an F1 Kipili if you can believe it. I had one batch of fry that turned out this way and I unfortunately only kept one! I wish I kept them all as she is really adorable. She's only like 4 inches but she is about 3 1/2 years old. I have her in a tank with some F1 mobas as she gets along well with them. To my surprise, she spawned with an F1 moba male and even held for a good 7 days before I stripped her. I got around 20 egg babies out of that batch. I'm curious to raise them up and see if those offspring will look like her or not.
It would be cool if they did! I have bred lots of fronts and all different kinds as well. The most unique fry I've had were two Siamese fry (that did not survive to free swimming), 'dwarf' kipilis and one completely black tailed moba that I'm currently raising to hopefully spawn one day. She is around 4 inches so hopefully she'll spawn with my WC moba male.

I talked to a breeder about the Mbete Fronts, a couple years ago. He sais that they are more aggressive than the other variants.

That can make some sense, perhaps the Napoleon complex. Although if they do exist they may be great for some with limited space for 6 footers.
