Default Local Fish Stores

Recently there have been a couple of youtube videos about your LFS's, what's wrong with them, are they going to survive and do you buy from them or do you buy everything online?

Personally, I try to buy whatever I can from my LFS but sometimes their prices are way high or they don't have the fish I want.

What do you guys and gals do?

I still buy a lot of the tank needs, food, ect at a lfs but most, if not all, of my fish purchases are online.
The more i learn the more i realize how much more there is to learn.

Only lfs near me was a pet store with maybe 15 small tanks and a 55. The people were nice enough but limited to mostly beginner fish. I did try to support it by ordering food, but half the time they got the order wrong. They folded this year.

Next closest is almost two hours away, not bad, and they'll special order if they can get it from Segrest. I've done some trading with them over the years and bought fish occasionally. Anything better is a few hours drive.

When I lived in Florida, and before that New England, I had access to some really good shops, quality fish, new stuff all the time. I spent plenty of time in them.
My fishroom, my rules...

The fish I wanted weren’t available at most all of my LFS. Additionally, most of the Fluval filter media, pads and floss can be bought online for a fraction of the price. I do buy some frozen foods and dry foods occasionally, but in 20 years of keeping salt and fresh, I find my LFS lacking.

I do not buy much from my LFS. Frozen krill, mysis, and brine is mostly it. I have been tanganyikan only for the last 15 years, and most don't have what I have been looking for. I have gotten great fish online and at local fish clubs for better prices too.

You have to support the local stores. Where else can you get rid of unwanted fish. They support local clubs and provide expert information. But they are disappearing one at a time. You canít have a personal relationship with online ordering. Pros and cons for both.
