Default How Long Should I Keep Area Darken To avoid Stressing Kigs.

I recently purchased a beautiful tio. They are adjusting wonderfully no longer skittish like first couple of days. I've kept Loft area quiet and a bit dark with very little diffused light. So how much longer should i do this . The eating pattern of mysis shrimp/ veges/brine shrimp/ cichlid gold pellets seem to me find. again how much longer before I can lighten up the area a bit.

I think a good feed will get them back on track, I usually turn the lights back on the next day. Depending on how they're acclimating... I sometimes wait a few days to feed them, or if they're doing well I'll feed them the next day also

You're lucky, at least your kig is adjusting in couple of days. My kig on the other hand did not eat anything (as far as I could witness) for over 2 months; and yes, he became really really thin.

I would do normal things during the day like turing on the lights when I came from work and feed the the tanks right after the lights are on. And eventually he realized that "lights" means food is coming.

Another thing that I did was, after a water change, I would treat the fish with some live something and eventually he got used to this idea i guess and became more and more tamed.

Over time he REALLY trusted me and I could hand feed him and "pet" him, his hump!

I dont have him anymore, he passed away a few months back (after a water change, I forgot to plug in the heater) He froze to death, I am sooooo sad.

Congrats on the Kigs. You should be able to lighten up the area after 2 days or so. Can we some pics of them?
