So, dumb question...why would they like a deeper tank? I didn't think they used the top of it? Is this more for looks? I'm asking because I'm debating between a 18" and 24" tall tank. Thanks, Steph

Personally I wouldn't go with a tank that was under 24 inches in height and the maximum height would be 30 inches .The higher the tank the nicer the show tank gives for a larger viewing area

I think we should have a poll for choosing depths and width of a tank rather than just the height! Lots of factors however.

30" inch tanks and higher are nice for the larger lengths, like 8 or 10 feet. It is very hard to clean or place something onto the bottom of a 30" or higher tank.

my 240 is 24 inches and 8 feet

I do like the 30 inch tanks and cleaning isnt a problem for me with my height
but dont think cyphos would utilize it to its fullest

very nice for saltwater though

Wow this is an old post... back in 2006 I had a 180 only 24 inches high.... now I have a 225 which is 30 inches high. It is soooo much better then my 180 in my opinion.

I like 24" but when they are stacked on racks it limits your space above the tank for maintenance, so I've just ordered an 18" 6' tank. For display though, 24". 30" may be nice but not easy to place big rocks in or lift them out, or catch your holding females.
