Default questions about shipping fish with Delta

can someone that have shipped with Delta cargo help to walk me through the process of shipping it? like from booking to dropping it off? i've never shipped with delta or southwest before so i don't know how it works but i've received alot of fish from the airport. Do i need to have an account to ship with Delta?
your help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

https://www.deltacargo.com

Call Delta Cargo, give them a date, a departing airport and a destination airport and their customer support reps will give you all the options, price, and even book it for you. Tell them your new and ask them a bunch of questions: they are very helpful. They will tell you what time you need to drop the package off (usually 2.5 hours before the flight is scheduled to depart).

Get a stack of their airway bills and fill one out best you can and hand it to the clerk taking your package. Once they check it in, the airway bill number will be your tracking number. It's really pretty easy. You'll gain confidence fast.

Bonne chance!

Russ

But you do need to mention it's "live tropical fish" though or they'll give you some static.

You have to call them to book a flight (unlike southwest) at least 24hrs before your desired flight will depart.
They must be dropped off 3 hrs in advance because they get locked out of their computer routing system at 2hrs previous to flight (no longer able to make changes or even confirmations for that flight) and need to have time to check them in.
You can have them fill out your waybill slip or you can fill it out yourself and save $10 hahaha
Other then that...pretty simple. Do it once and you'll be an expert!

They say you can book totally on line. I never have. But you can go to delta.com and basically just check flights for your destination. But like Razzo said, the operator( after you finally get one, wait time can be long if you call at a busy time.) Are very helpful and will help you find the right flight. Even if you don't book on that call.

Like Jim said, you can do it online; however, if you call them, they are happy to do it all for you and you don't need to learn all the nuisances of their web page and their industry. They know all the ins and outs.

I'll give my experience on Southwest since you mentioned it .

As for Southwest Air Cargo you will need an account. They just need to verify who you are and what you are shipping. They'll send an agent to your house just to verify if you are legit (real person and location) and there is a fee of $80 at least that's what Southwest charged me. Once paper work and verification is done, they'll send you airway bills with your acct#. You will be able to ship to any Southwest Air Cargo location.

If you need help with Southwest just ask .

Thanks guys for the help. I just shipped the first box of fish with delta without any problems. The only thing i didn't get to do was fill out the air waybill. They already got it all filled out by the time i got there. They all made it there safe and sound.
I don't plan on shipping fish that much but if i do, I'll PM you to ask questions about southwest cargo.
