Default Alto spawn

Well my wc pair of Alto Goldhead comps have recently spawned and being short of tank space, I have just left them in with the parents. So far so good and they are all still hopping around the tank (there are no other occupants). Yesterday however, I noticed a change in the males attitude - clearly another spawn is due and his behaviour has become more hostile, even squaring up to my face when I put it near the tank. I think he was picking off a few of the fry but can't be sure. No worries anyway, there will be plenty more where they came from!
Anyone has success raising comp fry with the parents still present?

Nope, always removed fry as soon as they came near mouth of the spawning shell. They never last long once they start peking near the mouth of the shell.

I totally agree, they don't last long if they're allowed to stay in the tank.

That's good. Maybe bc they are in with just the parental pair makes a difference. Mine were in tanks with multiple pairs.

Good luck,

Russ

I have a trio of wc Goldheads, mine spawn constantly but i havent tried saving fry yet. Im getting rid of the fish in my 40 breeder and may try to raise the next batch. I think they spawned again earlier this week.
