Default I think one of my w/c mpimbwe females is pregnant

She has not eaten for a week. When it comes to feeding time she just hides away. She keeps gulping like an action that would be used to tumble eggs in her mouth. Her mouth is also slightly protruding, along with her gills at the bottom.

Are these signs of holding eggs?

If she is holding eggs I doubt they have been fertilized, because my fish have only been in my tank for < 3 months... and the tank is still going through its six month cycle.

Sounds like holding eggs. If it's been a week the eggs were probably fertilized. Sometimes when they're ready to spawn, they're ready.

The question now is how long will she hold and do you want to strip the eggs or just see how long she holds?

I don't think I'm going to strip her. Is there anything bad about not stripping?

nothing bad just that she may eat the fry

congrats but whats a 6 month cycle? once your water is producing nitrates your tank is cycled IMO

I was getting small bacteria blooms (cloudy water) about once a week, and someone told me it takes 6 months to get a full bacteria bed within a wet dry filter.
