Default Need your advice : Calvus & Julies

Need some help guys. I have this 4 footer 90G, currently stocked with 10 Cyps Leptosoma Utintas. The biggest one is about 3", the smallest perhaps close to 2". I wanted a community tank on this one. Unfortunately, I didnt get the fish I wanted at that time. The Cyps are doing fine as a community.

Now, there is some chance that I might get Calvus/Altos and Julies (maybe Marleri or Ornatus) in the 1st week of Jan. Getting a fish of ones choice itself is a big deal here, so I am not even thinking of the M/F ratio (the carrier hardly knows anything about fish), lets assume its a 1:1.

The next big question is : If I keep both varieties of the above mentioned fish along with my Cyps in my 4 footer, how many do I purchase of each ?

Altos, assuming they are fry or juvies, in a 90G tank, I would start with 8 to 10 and let them work out the final count.

Julies can be vicious with each other. I might start with five and be prepared to save some defeated fish immediately. You might end up with three eventually (is my guess).

So, it turns out to be 10 Cyps + 8 Altos + 5 Julies

I was also reading that Altos need to be in pairs and that they are docile. Julies could be aggressive during spawning But all the 3 can be put in a single tank. Gotta see, what I end up with.

Altos will pair and they will also harem spawn - they will work that out. Altos make great tank mates as they usually do not bother other species. I believe all three species will make a nice community tank.

I guess that's what's happening in my tank. The only fish that died are the julies. I tought that they were more fragil fish. Unfortunatle for me, the ugly ones are still alive and all the fancy ones are dead.
