Default My Moba Growth Update

Just over 8 months ago I purchased a group of twelve wild caught moba. The largest one was about 5.5" Thank looked severely understocked as some of them were as small as 3.5". I purchased 9 females and 3 males. I already owned a wild caught Kitumba and he was around 12" at the time. I ended up losing one of my group. I replaced it with a large F1 Moba around 8". The groups bred within a month and have bred 4 times since. I am not a successful breaded though as I tried stripping, waiting it out, etc. I was able to keep some of the culls from the breeding groups because the only eggs that didn't happen to get fungus had bad stripes. I couldn't bring myself to give them away as they were two survivors out of over 80 eggs.

Anyways, here is an update on my tank and the fish.

Then...

Now!

The smallest fish in my wild caught group is about 6" with most of them being closer to 7-9".

I'll take pictures of the full group soon, I'm waiting on a wider angle lens as the tank is 8x2x2.

The largest one is the wild Caught kitumba, although some of the wild Caught Moba are fast approaching his size. Oddly enough he is not the Alpha in the tank. I guess that's not too hard to believe though, the breeding group he was originally with picked on him so much the owner took him to my local fish store. His fins still won't grow back, they're better than they were when I got him. But, they are not nearly as long and flowing as the moba's.

I was in the same position about a year ago. They grow pretty quickly though, I don't think one or two more would hurt. Although as they get bigger I'm wishing that I just let them be originally. I fear my tank will be very crowded in a year or so if they keep growing like this.

If you have pictures I would love to see your fish!
