Default Calvus update (vids)

Quick update:
  • Palau (alpha) went to war with the beta (old news).
  • Pulled beta and put in 10 gallon hospital tank (old news).
  • Beta recovered very well and was still in 10g HT.
  • Few days ago one of the females had taken a beating and was on the decline.
  • Needed to clear out the 10g HT - beta male got promoted to the 240g Mikula tank.
  • Battered female has been in the 10g HT with a Epsom treatment and is doing very well.
  • Videos (below) of beta with the Miks from the weekend (I like the combo).
  • Battered female: when she has fully recovered, she'll get promoted to the 240g too.
  • 40g Calvus tank - Palau is calling the shots and it is now him and two females.

Ah crud! The female in the 10 gallon hospital tank has a bad case of fungus on her tail wound. Almost like her tail is dangling by a thread. She's eating though.

Dang, wish I'd have caught that sooner! It's hard to see her as she has been hiding in a calvus cave and all the busyness of a holiday weekend.

I dosed the tank with an anti fungal (SeaChem's ParaGuard).

Anyone else have any experience with fungus and or Altolamp fungus? Treatment ideas? Hopefully the ParaGuard will help.

Yah, I feel bad. She was hiding in the cave and it was a busy long holiday weekend an I didn't pay the kind of attention I should of. I don't have a good track record when it comes to Altolamps and fungus.

When I got my wild Muzi gold heads the shipping bag was pooped and the fish were lying in the bottom of the box in, like, an inch of water. Surprised any survived. Two of the females got stressed and got fungus. Lost them. Can't remember how I treated them. I couldn't stop it.

I need to re-examine how I deal with fungus. Curious as to others experiences and treatment choices?

Thanks!

Russ

Hi Russ,

Very nice colony of Miks,as always. My WC miks colony tends to be darker (black)...they are feeding mainly on Hikari Carnivore and some market prawns/shrimp...do you mind to share what you fed the Miks to get that beautiful blue color??

Thank you in Advance...

I really enjoy the videos and I subscribed to your channel on youtube. Your tank is beautiful and I am excited to see my WC Moba's get to the size of your Miks. How many Miks do you have in the 240g? Male to Female ratio? Do you intend to breed them? How old are they?

I know thats a lot of questions any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
