Default December Mikula Update

Well, aside from recovering from a slip disc in my back, December was a decent month in the fish room. I have 47 new free swimming F1 Mikula fry in the 40 gallon nursery tank. Here's an image of 42 that came from Motsumi (she is consistent, last time around she gave me 41 wigglers).

Here's Motsumi with these same wigglers in her mouth

With my slip disc, I was forced to let another female hold until Day 26 when I removed 5 free swimming fry. That was cool

My small female spawned again and lost all her eggs again. I saw her loose (or let hem slip out of her mouth) a couple eggs which quickly got eaten by her piers. Gee, no wonder she has not produced any fry yet She's young.

I have another mature female that is a beauty. She does not defend herself so I had to pull her from the 240 for her own safety. I was able to put her back in the 240 this month and she spawned a small clutch this past week and all the eggs were gone within a couple days. Maybe consistency will help her next time.

Here are a couple images of Tau (the tank alpha and father of all fry) at feeding time this week. He likes checking this shell for food. He does this every time I fed the tank. He will stick his head all the way in it too.

Cheers,
Russ

Don't you just love it when your tumbler seems..."crowded". hahaha
I love how blue Motsumi's moustache bar is. Great pics as always Russ.

Great pics as usual Russ and congrats of the fry. I have my Kigoma group up for sale right now (they are just breeding like crazy - more fry than I can sell) and I intend to get a group of Mikula to replace them.

Thanks . Tau is about 9-inches. He has matured so much since he has become alpha. I hope I am blessed to see him reach 15-inches. Females range from 5 to 7 inches.
