Default 180g (6x2x2) enough for 12 mobas?

Hey everyone,

Getting ready to put together a permanent home for my F1 mobas. I was planning a 7ft acrylic but a 3 yr old 180g glass with stand came up for sale in our local forum.

Anyone keeping the same amt or more gibs in their 6 ft tanks? I feel like it'll look quite crowded once the males grow to 10+ inches. Please advise and full tank photos would greatly help!

Thanks everyone

I have 19 WC adult Moliro in a 6 foot 225 gallon with zero problems at all. Tons of filtration and weekly 50% water changes. Same foot print as your 180 just taller. Mine tend to crowd together all the time so it never looks crowded in there at all.

Gonna depend on personality of alpha fish. I have 8 large Moba in a 135 and my Alpha male and female are BIG fish. But outside of one smaller male that takes all the heat and hides in a corner, everyone gets along. Conversely, I have 5 Bismarck in a 110 (6'). Alpha male is largest at 6" tops. He's a complete tyrant and is forever harassing everyone. So, I would say try it, but don't be surprised if some have to move on.

By the way, there IS the small chance that my Bismarck issue is because there aren't enough fish in there to compete with the alpha, but I doubt it.

Thank you everyone for your input and Jim for the money shots! My alpha is the oldest of the 12, got him at 1.5" last summer and he's now 4.5". I think the beta boy who is next in size is at 3" (and is younger) so I'm hoping that there will be a clear Alpha for a very very long time.

The acrylic 210g 7footer would cost me 3500$ CDN new all said and done with stand/cabinets. The 3 yr old glass 180g tank/stand is $700 and that's a deal where I'm from (Vancouver, BC).
