Default Spot on Fin

Hi,

One of my 10 4" Moba's has a little brown spot on the end of one of his dorsal fins toward the back. Is that anything to worry about or a sign of anything?

Thanks

Don't know on that one. Is it a sort of a brown smudge or a bump?

I've seen them get the occasional minor white spot that clears up on its own with a good water change and a filter rinse if needed, or by adding a little salt and/or a little melafix. (I normally do something like 1/3 recommended dose, which ime works for minor stuff and minimizes the temporary fast breathing melafix can cause.) If it was me I think I'd start with a similar approach and if it didn't start improving reasonably quickly I'd consider further steps. Either way I'd do a water change and maybe check ammonia to eliminate that possibility (ammonia can cause smudge-like spots.)

It' looks like a tiny smudge and a ball at the very tip of the fin far away from his body. Doesn't look serious and he's acting normal. I did a water change 2 days ago. If it doesn't clear up in a couple days I'll move him to a separate tank and treat. Thanks
