I have three caves spaced along the tank. I want my fish to be happy and comfortable. They spend a lot of their time in the caves so they seem to appreciate them. I just have to remove the three capstones to catch them for stripping so no big deal really. Again though, I know of a very successful breeder who has a very open, cave free tank. They breed like rabbits, so each to their own.

Thanks for sharing,I know it seems like despite the setup each keeper still has different experiences. I recently cut back on some rock so they dont bang their heads or scrape their body when they dart/chase each other.

A while back I ran into about 180lbs of holey rock so I have that stacked in my tank on eggcrate It looks great but my fronts area always darting/chasing each other. It's beautiful rock but I'm thinking of removing it
