You have to watch drop shippers. They never touch the fish or see them, just sale them and then give the order to someone else. I have never been a fan of companies that do that, really don't see how quality control can be met.

You are correct, that is not mooning. Genetic mooning is the lack of black pigment within a black stripe. If it fills in sometimes then there is black pigment and that is not mooning. That is just a very common stress spot for young Zaire fry (even high quality fry). It will go away 100% as they get a little bigger.

If it bothers you and you can't wait until they get an inch or too bigger, a darker substrate will usually fix it too.

My advice, don't worry about it. I would not use that as an indicator of the quality of the fry. Again, it's just a very common stress spot for young fry.
