Default Leleupi Over Black Sand

Has anyone kept Leleupi in a tank with blk sand? If so did there color darken a lot?

IME it really depends on the strand that you have. I have several from different sources. Only one set from the same source remain a bright brilliant orange. Another set lightened a bit but didn't turn dark. The last set all turned significantly darker. I removed two and placed them over a lighter substrate and they brightened right back up.

I have some WC leleupi, the very orange variant, and they became a dark muddy brown color over black sand, moved them over to white and its been a while but their bright orange is starting to return, especially in the female.

I had always kept Leleupis over black sand with no problem in coloration at all. They came from different sources, but I always chose they brightest ones. Here are some photos to see it by yourself.










As you can see, the black sand didnīt affected the coloration of my leleupies, but I canīt be sure the same will happen if you get a weak strand of them.

Hey thanks for the pics, they look awesome. You given me hope again especially since I already ordered some Tahitian Moon (it'll be here tomorrow) I also think I have a good chance since my rocks are not too dark. I also plan on getting some very orange ones if I can. I been looking at the firecracker ones also.

Good luck aquarist!! I bought mine from Pet Shop,
But each time I bought one I carefully selected the brightest one from the group.

i only have one and it is looking a little golden brown over the black sand. wish he was brighter
