Default Help Identify my fish

Hello everyone, I am fairly new to fish keeping (8 months) and I've become infatuated with Frontosa. I now own several and I am having a hard time pinning down the exact breed I have for my large male. His fins are picked because I had two large males and the alpha would not leave him alone. I picked them up from a local guy who picked them up from another guy with a wild caught group. He was essentially getting rid of males. At the time I didn't think I would be looking for a wild caught group. But, I am now in search of a colony of my own. I want them to be wild caught and I would like them to breed eventually. I need to know exactly what this guy is to help me decide what group to buy as I don't want to mix them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe he is a zaire, possibly kitumba, maybe mikula. He is roughly 11" long.

Thank in advance,

Michael

Pics? It will be almost impossible to tell collection points but you will at least get some opinions with pics

Definitely zaire. Hard or impossible to determine the collection point. I would ask the seller if possible. Good luck!

I agree, every time I take pictures of these guys they do that now. It's almost as if they know I like that shot.

Zaire is the only thing I can say with any confidence. Here's some speculation as to a possible collection point...

Gonna vote no for Miiukla due to that nauchle hump (usually, an 11" Mikula wouldn't have a bump that big). Moba seem to get a good size hump???

Gonna vote no for Kitumba as they seem to have a longer, less stocky body type than the pictured fish.

Could vote maybe for Kapampa for the nauchle hump and large scales on the forehead.

Of course, any collection point could show any of these traits. Outside of having fun making guesses, I wouldn't bet any money on guessing a collection point. Without the seller knowing, your stuck with "Zaire."

I contacted the guy and the best he can do is Zaire as well. My real question when I get my wild caught group of Moba, should I remove this guy?

Any takers if so???

Thank you everyone for all of your help!
