Default Withholding food

I know many of you advocate withholding food for up to a week after a spawn. My question is this: what if you have several spawns in a row...how do you keep your nonpregnant fish in top shape (plenty of body fat for future spawning)?

In the layover between spawns I feed mine well once a day religiously to keep then in tip top shape. Ive withheld food when multiple spawns occurred for as long as 11 days with no issue. This has been my experience with them. But I usually strip my girls on day 4 or 5.

I feed hikari sinking cichlid pellets, nls thera-a pellets, frozen krill and frozen mysis shrimp. I always feed the frozen foods right after my weekly wcs, especially when I see a tube dropping!

Good info...thanks! Where did you get your frozen foods from? Is Petco/Petsmart an okay place to get them?

Currently I have a large container of freeze dried krill I use occasionally as a treat. Is there an advantage to frozen over freeze dried?

I use the sallys frozen krill, im pretty sure petsmart has it. The mysis I buy at the lfs and its the pe frozen mysis. Pe stands for piscine energetics. Never have been a fan of freeze dried food for my Moba.

Good to know, thanks! I've fed them mostly NLS for the last 8 months and they like it and breed pretty well, but I'm thinking of mixing things up just a bit. Another forum member recommended Hikari Massivore, so I have some of that coming in, as well as the freeze dried krill that I have and I'll probably pick up some frozen mysis for the breeding activity it supposedly helps!

If I can ask, what is the deal with freeze dried foods? Does freeze drying strip out nutrients or something?
