Default Moba Collection Points

I read that most of the mobas come from areas near Moba and M'toto. I know this is in the Congo/Zaire. The area is in Katanga (province/state?).

Am I in the right area of Lake Tanganyika? I can't find too much info on either Moba or M'toto. Also where is Dar es Salaam in relationship to this area?

Hi Ron,

I found this interactive map on internet. There is also an interactive map from lake Tanganyika. All places are in an easy list.

J, thank you!!!!!!!!! The maps are great! When I checked out the atlas what I thought should be M'toto looks like Ntoto. The atlas is very detailed.

Love the Lake Tanganyika map as well!!!!! Thanks for the link!!!!!

Ntoto is the correct spelling. I have found several links to this village. As I find more info I will share with the group.

I'm not sure, but I think African Diving was on the other side of the lake which means they would have to cut across it. They were on the east side of Lake T. Ntoto and Moba are on the west side of Lake T.

You may have seen another posting of mine. I'm searching for a postage stamp.....better a souvenir sheet with a frontosa on it. I've found several nice stamps with african masks, african natives........

I had an artist draw me a very nice red asian aro a few yrs ago that I had matted and framed. Below the aro drawing I have a souvenir sheet of aro stamps matted to the frame.

I want this same artist to draw me a moba frontosa so I can do the same with it. I'm having a hard time finding the frontosa stamp. I've found other cichlid stamps, but no front stamps. I found some zaire/moba fishermen on a postcard which looked pretty cool. Also found a satellite image of Lake T and the collection map from duboisi.com.

I like the map links sent to me by J above. If I can't find the frontosa stamp, I'll matt the satellite, collection map or some local african stamps from Zaire or the Congo. Tanzania has some nice stamps, but Tanzania is further south than the Ntoto or Moba collection points.

I think half the fun is the challenge of finding what I am looking for. I'm going to keep looking.

Hi ron,

i think i found your stamp
www.stanleygibbons.com/priceguide/index.asp?page=results&country_id=43&keyword=&issu e_year=&issue_year2=&sg_number=&sc_name=&pg=77

the stampnumber is 1617 in the list and it costs 0,75 pound (about 1,5 dollar or so) and it's multi collar.
