Default Holding air, my observation

My samazi tank is the closest to my sofa. So I'm most aware of them. I had that " crazy " male. He obviously had an ailment, but it would make him dash crazily around the tank at random times. Well during these times. I had several females holding air. To me, I took it as the girls saying, hey I'm holding, leave me alone( lol, kinda like me in high school) but the crazy male has passed and I've gotten a new make from c&h and since than, no ones holding air.. just my observation.
125 Gallon 7 WC Moba

180 Gallon 13 WC Kitumba
240 Gallon 9 WC Tembwe
125 gallon 9 WC Kipilli
125 gallon 12 WC Chumbu
125 gallon 9 WC Mikula

This will be my last tank I promise. Oh who am I kidding?

I remember other people saying they thought their females did it for that reason also, and I don't doubt it. Seems to me like a behavior that can have more than one reason. I've had the occasional 2" juvie hold air also, then give it up after being fed a nice treat or after being moved to another tank.
My fishroom, my rules...
