Default What advice would you give to would be buyers?

Just like it says, what advice would you give to potential buyers (or sellers, for that matter) or to first time buyers-- to avoid scams, bad deals, what to look for in the fish, etc. If we get enough good thoughts, maybe we'll pin some of them or pin this thread.

I always Google the users name to see if he/she is on multiple forums or shows up on a scam list or ask them for a few forum references. Also if they give you there PayPal info you can check to see if they are "verified" before doing business with them. I usually don't mess with people that haven't been around for a while (I know not always the best methods). For the most part people on the forums are trustworthy but there is always the few that ruin it for the rest.

Copy and past from another site.
Goto https://www.paypal.com/row/mrb/pal=WAVFD...

Login. After logging in. Just do as instructed:

https://www.paypal.com/verified/pal=user...

Replace username@emailhost.com with the mail id of the person you are sending the money or buying from

For example my paypal verified URL is:
https://www.paypal.com/verified/pal=dili...

Simple!

Type your mail id (non-verified) and it will tell you non-verified.

Use common sense after research, research and more research.

I would buy from Greg or a moderator. They know their stuff and have quality stock.

Best advice is: if it's too good to be true; it is probably a bad idea.

Unless its a local cash deal, always pay with credit card or Paypal linked to a credit card. Never send as gift or friends and family. Never mail cash, check, or cashiers check.

this! if they complain about paying paypal fees if you choose the "buying goods" option, tell them you will add 3% to the agreed price. this way you will stay protected.

Great tip Trent!

I also use Google PI to research sellers.

1. In addition to searching their username, Google their phone number and or email address

2. Search images the seller provides or posts using Google Images or TinEye.

To absolutely IGNORE the allure of "wild, F1, F2" etc. Anyone can label anything, any way they want. Buy the fish, NOt the label. There are lots of fish that are many generations removed from Wild that are much better looking than the coveted "F1" label.
