it depend what you like and what your intentions are. if you plan to breed and sell, Zaires will command the highest fry price. if you don't care about breeding get whatever looks best to you. if it were me picking from your list it would be a toss up between moba and kapampa.

Ok so as some of you know i am still new to Cyphos.

Yes i do plan to breed and sell them. I don't see Zaire on the list i recieved. Is it Cyphotilapia sp. Northern Zaire? and Cyphotilapia gibberosa (Kapampa)? These are the only 2 i found on Cichlid Forum.

Zaire is the common regional variant name for gibberosa collected on the Congo Coast. DRC used to be Zaire and the original name "Zaire Blue" has stuck for most hobbyists. In other words Kapampa, Moba, Kitumba, and other Cyphotilapia gibberosa found on the Congo coast are all Zaire Blue in the same way that Mpimbwe, Kipili, Samazi, etc. are Tanzanian C. gibberosa.

This is an older list but has quite a few of the available varieties under which species (C. frontosa or C. gibberosa) and regional variant they belong to.

The two listings that say congo- kapampa and Congo moba/kitumba on the list you posted are zaires. Kapampa, moba and kitumba are collection points but they are all zaires. If I had to pick from your list id pick the moba or kapampa. The zaires are classified as cyphotilapia gibberosa. They are collected in and around the democratic republic of Congo.

...Forgot to add-- in other words, Congo Blue and Zaire Blue are the same thing. Some will say Congo, which is technically more up to date, but Zaire persists as the common name more hobbyists use.

Does anyone have a chart or pictures of the different variants to compare them side by side?
