Def. not a Zaire type and most likely a Tanz type. The nose guard mask and "dusty" blue appearance suggest a Tanz/Samb type. Nice looking fish though. Why did you ask if it could be a Mikula?

Hi Russ. I have a wild caught pair. I would like to get some more. Those are sold as mikula.

I have had a Zaire female or two that the top part of the zoro mask would fade depending on mood and the mask would look like yours. I have also had a couple that would sometimes have a dusty blue coloration. The pigment in the black bars is not dark enough. Mood? That's three strikes for that good looking fish. Without any new info or pics, I'm still comfortable with it being non Zaire.

You can add more and just be happy you have some very nice Gibberosa or, if you want Mikula, youll need to source some from somebody else. If you can get pics from a seller, I'd be happy to give my opinion. If I'm out enjoying the southwest Florida sun for an extended period of time, there are many other members on this site with a lot of experience that would give opinions too.

Good luck whichever route you choose.

Cheers,
Russ

I'm definitely not going to cross variants. I'm not a fan of cross breeds. I have some more pics which I will post later of mikula being sold. If you can identify those for me it will be great thanks.

Is that the same fish from your original post?
