Unfortunately, I now have two 90 gallons on either side of our new FP to replace the 180. Our new house is open concept and there are no long walls to put a 180 on. Trying to figure out something that I havent kept in a while for the 2 90s. Thinking EBJD for one. I had a Dempsey pair in 1996, been a while. Havenít kept CA cichlids in a while. Researching tankmated now. Going to miss my Frontosa, kept them for over 10 years. Open to suggestions for the new tanks.

Except keeping a few of my kaps I went back to doing SA a few years ago. So many nice Geos, Heros, Aequidens, etc. available now. Presently growing out some G. sveni (not my video, mine are still juvies) and biding my time finding a wild severum type to put with them.

There's a ways to go on my wish list of SA, but if (or when) I get around to CA fish, Carpintis Rio Hondo (or Escondido) would be high on my list-- images ...my impression from ones I've seen is you get similar color to an EBJD without EBJD health issues.

Vieja may be possible in a 4' tank. I kept Argentea in a 5' tank a few years ago. They're pretty aggressive and are best kept with each other.

If you don't have a basement, could you put a tank in a place that's not against a wall (being directly on the concrete slab would mean you don't have to be near a weight bearing wall)? I've seen some great setups where a large tank is used as a divider in an open concept space. Where there's a will there's a way
