awesome replies! i started off with lots of rocks and then found out through here that its usually a bad idea since it encourages shy behaviour, which my kigomas did. I took out some rocks and they did come out sometimes. I also removed 6 yellow labs as most of them were harassing the fronts -_-..should i use more dither fish? if so, what kind?

when i feed them NLS, they just wait for it to come down..is that normal? im not even sure if theyre eating it. its a different story when i feed them bloodworms or brine shrimp..they attack these guys like crazy!..good thing about that tho is that they get a lil bit comfy when i'm around. should i continues this or will they get used to treats instead of NLS? (im sorry i have a dog so sometimes i think that theyre dogs lol..training wise)

I have had mine since before Christmas and they took right to NLS. It is strange though when feeding time comes, sometimes they wait for the food to sink and other times swim to the surface to feed. I have them in a tank by themselves. They are like little puppy dogs coming to the front of the tank when I am around. Other family members it takes some time for them to come out. What a difference eliminating a lot of the rocks and wood made. I believe to already have an alpha and beta growing out, these two seem to be the most aggressive and dominant in the tank and the largest. My alpha is darker in color than the beta.

Bosemani Rainbow fish are a good choice because they will color up your tank, will always be out in the open (upper water column) and will not harass your prized fish.

I used to use Congo Tetras for dithering fish they look awesome swimming around with Fronts for some reason. Just until Fronts get big enough to swallow them although Congos get quite big themsleves. I love my Burundis, tho I'd like to keep other variants if I had more room (fish room plans on way).

You need to be patient with Burundi. The bigger they get, the longer you've had them, they will get braver and generally swim out in the open, tho numbers help them feel more secure. They are a shoaling fish you know.
They will also come to the front of the tank at feeding time. I have 15 in a 150gal tank. 8 big adults and around 7, 1 to 2 inches from my own broods. They have great personalities, they will get use, depending on where your tank is situated to a family. I can go right up to the tank and they all come up begging like puppy dogs ( love that ). They have recently now got used to my 4 year old son, who has really taken to them. He calls them Frontoasters

The tank is near 2 doors and on route to the garden and my wife quite frequently flys by with the washing and they don't seem to flinch. Weird thing is tho my mum will come round and all she has to do is go near the tank and they all go nuts and spook. Strange huh

Its Burundi for me for now. check out my YouTube vids

I have 16 of Mikeb144's Burundi's.

Rode over to Mike's thinking Burundi's? based on stock i'd seen in LFS's.

His breeding group is very nice looking.

Get him to post some pics he has lots of fry right now.

I have never been a fan of the Kigs Heather, until your photos. I like broader stripes , but I have to say yours were the nicest I have ever seen.

yea i would say to each his own, kigomas and burundis to me have a style of their own. kigomas ar unique whereas i like that unhappy face of the burundi especially in my alpha male's face.. haha
i've been trying to get a kigoma colony but they are just not available over here in singapore.. hopefully i'll get my hands on them in future.

I will vote for kigoma. I have kigomas before and really like their 7 stripes and yellowish fins. They are a little bit shy compare to the mobas that I have now. Need to sell them to give way for my WC mobas. Too bad I don't have enough big tanks to keep them both.

congrats man!!

i got 17 burundi's myself. awsome fish I change up what i feed my colony all the time. i use tetra pro color, tetra pro vegetable, spirulina, just about all frozen fish food i can get my hands on, raw shrimp, clam meat. my fish will always eat. its like theyre wondering whats coming when i feed. and the throw themselves on it no matter what it is.

as tankmates i have 9 leleupi's. 5 yellow bristlenoses we call L-144 in norway. 1 telmatochromis vittatus shell. and 2 leopard eels. im gonna switch out the leleupi's soon. gonna add either a group of callochromis or enantiopus kilesa.

i prefer to have tankmates. makes my fronts more social. mine arent shy at all and i can hand feed most of them. be careful with leleupis though. they can be a bit agressive.
